The Hawthorn berry is a tree berry and it has been credited by science to help improve heart function. It is sometimes administered for people who have heart issues. It is powerful enough for the recommended dosage to be between 160 to 500 mg per day and not to be taken for more than 150 days consecutively. As with any natural health supplementation you should consult your medical doctor if you are under a doctor’s care for any health issue especially if you are taking medications. For example if you are taking medication for high blood pressure and you start taking Hawthorn it could be equivalent to taking too much of the high blood pressure medication and could cause your blood pressure to drop too low.
Even though Hawthorn seems to be tolerated by most people in small doses, it is a powerful berry with great health benefits if the consumer is an adult. Hawthorn should NOT be given to children, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Hawthorn has been studied for centuries and is recognized as having beneficial characteristics to assist in reducing fats in the blood, lowering cholesterol, and may assist in preventing the narrowing of arteries. This tiny berry also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Studies are as recent as 2020 and some researchers say it can benefit those suffering from diseases such as diabetes, heart issues, and some cancers.
