Pain! In the movie GI.Jane with Demi Moore as Lt Jordan O’Neil and Viggo Mortensen as Command Master Chief Urgayle, Master Chief Urgayle made a statement to the troops as they were undergoing the vigorous regiment of exercise, he said, “Pain is your friend, your ally, it will tell you when you are seriously injured, it will keep you awake and angry, and remind you to finish the job and get the hell home. But you know the best thing about pain? It lets you know you’re not dead yet!”
Looking at pain through that lens you might consider it a good thing. Looking at pain through the lens of everyday life for the average person it does not mean that at all. It means I can’t live or enjoy my life because of pain. How do every day citizens deal with their pain? Most seek the opinion of a medical professional, they do not go to the streets and find the local drug dealer to purchase heroin. When members of the FDA, owners of pharmaceutical companies, and medical professionals across the country lost their (or maybe they never had) moral compass and became the drug dealers, the opioid crisis was born. This crisis is living proof you should not just take a doctors word for what is best for you when it comes to your health. Research and investigate and do not rush to make a decision.
